Sharai Mason was born in Anchorage, Alaska. She is one of 7 children. When she was 12 years old she was invited to attend the John Hopkins youth program. However her family could not send both she and her brother Xavier. So she did not attend. Instead of being crushed by the finality, she actually became more aware of the disparity between students and opportunities.
At this point she began to dedicate herself to the disadvantaged members of her community. She volunteered at the local food bank for 5 years, feeding her community from the church she attended. She also began to volunteer and compete within a sect of the NAACP called ACT-SO. She competed and volunteered with them for four years. Then she later mentored for a year with that very same program.
Now, Sharai is attending the University of Alaska Anchorage earning a bachelor’s degree in business management. She is an active member of the Alaska Youth Council and Acting Treasurer. In her spare time she is busy working to create her business that would further benefit the people of her community and the local economy through social activism and connectivity through media.
